break-ups don’t

always need therapy

therapy vs.

coaching

As a Break up Coach, I use an educational and social approach to teach heart-broken women of color how to harness self respect and community to change how they view themselves, and expose them to the kind of freedom that allow them to love themselves authentically. This creative approach challenges my clients to provide the kind of wealth they’ve always wanted for themselves.

In the over 10 years as a Trauma Focused Psychotherapist working with women of color recovering from break-ups, I realize that I shouldn’t have to diagnose you to learn how to love yourself better

But this approach is not for everyone. Take a look at the differences between Therapy and Coaching and decide what’s best for you:

Psychotherapy provides a space to delve in deeper into emotions and past experiences while treating a mental illness with a therapeutic approach.

  • Introspective, addressing deeper psychological issues.

  • Based on the medical model and treating a mental illness.

    • Emotional Healing: Processing and understanding emotions from the breakup

    • Mental Health Support: Addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, and trauma

    • Insight and Understanding: Gaining insights into patterns and behaviors

    • Long-Term Growth: Building a strong foundation for future relationships

    • Ideal for individuals dealing with significant emotional distress or mental health issues

    • Necessary for treating mental illness

COACHING

An empowering journey designed specifically for women seeking to learn and apply healthy relationship skills through literature.

  • Achieve specific personal and relational goals.

  • Emphasizes actionable strategies and practical solutions.

  • Uses creative ways outside of a medical model to achieve goals.

    • Goal Setting: Clear, achievable personal growth and future relationship goals

    • Skill Building: Practical tools for communication, boundaries, and self-confidence

    • Empowerment: Taking control of your life and moving past the breakup

    • Support and Accountability: Ongoing guidance and motivation

    • Ideal for individuals ready to take action and set goals

COMBINING BOTH APPROACHES

In some cases, combining coaching and therapy can be highly effective. Therapy can provide the emotional healing and understanding you need, while coaching can help you build the community to keep you accountable to your goals.
